Yeah, they are lovely. I regret spending so many years living in fear of them. I was never a huge fan of things that swarm, but you kinda get used to it after a few decades in Florida.

Dragonflies are awesome models for photography

They are hard to capture, but make some proffessional looking photos. I'm really impressed you've gotten this close to it (but I do belive you cropped the picture?), I tried to take a photo of one at Plitvica lakes but it wouldn't stand still

Nope, not cropped. The only editing is an adjustment to the lighting and an increase in sharpness.

Yeah, they are not easy to get pictures of, but I have a ton where I live so that helps. Studying their behavior and eating patterns helps a lot. If you catch them when they are flying around searching for food, you will likely never get a good shot. This guy stayed perched like this for at least 3-4 minutes. I was maybe 3-4 feet away.

Yeah, there aren't any in my area... That was the only time I have ever seen a dragonfly.
